Introduction

The Cub is a classic airplane design loved by both man-carrying and model airplane pilots. The flight characteristics and versatility of the design are so well known that virtually every new airplane is measured against it. The CubCrafters FX-3 is the latest variant of the Carbon Cub series. The original FX3 features a brand new engine and high-speed propeller on a lightweight platform. Hangar 9® is proud to introduce the largest and most advanced Cub in a complete ARF package for large model pilots.

Overview

Aimed at the sport, scale and glider pilot in the large model market, the new Hangar 9® Carbon Cub FX-3 100-200cc is the largest Cub we have ever developed and one of the largest on the market. It boasts the outstanding scale detail and incredible flight performance customers have come to expect from Hangar 9. With a wingspan of 4.2m, this massive model embodies the epitome of a large scale model, yet is designed to be practical enough for everyday use. The two-part wings with folding wing struts and removable elevator halves make it easy to transport and assemble. The model features many scale details, including a true-to-the-original sprung undercarriage with a solid milled shock absorber with heavy-duty springs to match the prototype. In addition, the cockpit equipment, the tow release and the super-scale tail wheel assembly are sure to turn heads at the airfield. As with the man-carrying Cub, shock-absorbing 8.5-inch wheels with aluminum hubs provide most of the suspension in difficult terrain. The two-piece fiberglass cowl allows easy access to the engine and fuel system, while the 3S LiPo compatible LED landing light and navigation lights add realism. The complete hardware kit is designed for 100 - 200 cc gasoline engines and allows for quick and easy installation of the propulsion system. The optional included tow release makes this Cub the perfect tug for your airfield. The FX-3 Carbon Cub 100-200cc is a big scale project from Hangar 9.
The kit was designed so that every average RC model builder and pilot can fulfill their own dream of a big-scale model.
Great emphasis was placed on strength, suitability for everyday use and robustness.
This means that load-bearing parts such as the undercarriage, shock absorbers, wheels and rear undercarriage are not only absolutely true to the original, but also designed to be particularly stable and withstand even hard landings or rough terrain without damage. In addition, the wings, wing tips and struts have been dimensioned to withstand all loads in flight.

With this design, the focus was deliberately not on staying below the 25 kg mark by all means. Instead, the customer can build a great and durable big-scale model from this kit, whose quality and equipment leave nothing to be desired and, depending on the motorization, reach a flight weight of 25-27 kg.
Now that the DMFV or DAEC has issued a simple certification for model aircraft over 25 kg, nothing stands in the way of absolute flying fun and enjoyment.
The experienced professional model builder can achieve a flying weight of less than 25 kg by exchanging or modifying individual components and equipment, but the model must then be handled and operated accordingly.
